Do you love a good race? Do you love a good battle? Do you love it when the entire country and then some get together for a good ol’ smackdown? Well if you do then you possibly owe that to the Greeks. Today in their Ancient Calendar was known as the Pythian Games and they were held every eight years. They were said to have started about the time Apollo killed the Dragon Python. All in honor of him, the day would be filled with all sorts of competitions. In the year of 586 BCE, the games were held every four years, not eight. THINK Olympics because this is where the idea originated from. Greeks were famous for these festivals and the Pythian Games were only but one of four different days beloved by the people.

A little announcement. Yes, Ancient Calendar is the same as Pagan Holidays. I just thought this title might be a bit more accurate. We also have our own page, located Ancient Calendar.
