Ancient Calendar & Pagan Holidays: August 16th: Festival of Minstrels and Vesta

 

The Festival of Minstrels is all about poetry and songs.  This gathering survived the distance of time until here lately, not quite sure if any parts of Europe still partake in it. Any Europeans out there care to let us know?

Rome’s observance for Vesta was today. The Goddess Vesta represents fire, hearth and households. She was a big deal back in the day including her Temple and her Virgins. She even influenced the Catholic Church.  To read more about that, please see the articles below.
