Ancient Calendar & Pagan Holidays: August 5: Lugh Dydd & The Celtic Tree Month of Coll Begins

The day of the Sun, in Welsh Lore, begins at sundown. This day was called Lugh Dydd.

Also, today, marks the Celtic Tree Month of Coll, which begins. Coll is also known as the Hazel. Hazel represents wisdom and Druid ritual and practices. It stands for regeneration and spiritual growth. This is also a time for divination, of the “unseen” things.

The air and energy surrounding a Hazel tree is said to be magically charged.
