Ancient Calendar & Pagan Holidays : August 2 & 3: Persians & Greeks

August 2

Things are rather simple in the Ancient World today as the Persians are celebrating their Goddess Anahita, who’s name, interestingly enough, means, “unstained”.  The meaning fits since she was the Zoroastrian Text’s version of an immaculate Virgin.

August 3

Today is Brauronia, a festival Ancient Greece had in honor of Artemis.
