Ancient Calendar & Pagan Holidays: June 15th: Moses’s Copyright Infringement of Ma’at and the Catastrophic Fires of Rome.

On June 7th, I did an Ancient Calendar article which through an intriguing but heartbreaking light on the Vestal Virgins. I bring that up now because they are connected to what I am about to say, here. Without going into the details I already discussed on June 7th, I’ll simply link you in case you missed it. Please check it out because it was those Virgins and that Temple which gave birth to many well-known things still used by the Catholic Church.

I will say again, as I already wrote in June 7th’s article that the Vestal Virgins or their greatest responsibility was keep the sacred fire of their temple burning. The Goddess Vesta stood for fire and hearth. Prophecy foretold that if Vesta’s sacred fire was allowed to go out inside her Temple at Lavinium, all of Rome would fall by Catastrophe. If by some chance the fire did extinguish, then it could only be lit by creating a friction between two pieces of Fruit Wood. Talk about a difficult task. At least, though, the Goddess gave her Virgins room for error. Right?

Unfortunately for them and Rome, Vesta’s Temple was sealed shut on this day in Ancient History by the hands of the Church. The same Church that would later use the rituals, practices and habits of Vestal Virgins and Priests to create the most important figures in it’s own Religion.

On a more happier note, Ma’at will travel to join all the other Goddesses in Heaven on this day. She will be accompanied by Thoth and Ra, in the Sun God’s flying Sun Boat. Ma’at stood for “truth” and “Justice”. She was represented by a feather. A man’s ab, or heart-soul, was weighed against that feather when he passed into the Halls of Judgement inside the Underworld.

Ma’at was said to write 42 Laws in which all Egyptians tried to live by. It is said that these Laws were the inspiration behind the 10 Commandments that Moses would later write.

Below are the 42 Laws:

  1. I have not committed sin.

  2. I have not committed robbery with violence.

  3. I have not stolen.

  4. I have not slain men or women.

  5. I have not stolen food.

Moses’s 10 Commandments

  1. You shall have no other gods before Me.

  2. You shall not make idols.

  3. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.

  4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

  5. Honor your father and your mother.

  6. You shall not murder.

  7. You shall not commit adultery.

  8. You shall not steal.

  9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

  10. You shall not covet.

Remember, as it’s already been discussed in this Months Calendar, that there is evidence that the Hebrews of Mount Sinai were worshiping Hathor, an Egyptian Goddess. Moses being raised in Egypt by Egyptians had first hand knowledge of their Pantheon, rituals and ways. This may explain how and why the miracles that Moses preformed had already been done by the hand of many Egyptian deities like the parting of the red sea and even the manner Moses came to be raised by a royal family to begin with.

Roman Calendar, today begins the Ides of June. Ides, meaning the 15th of any month.
