Charlie Sheen: Hero or Train Wreck?

I can’t figure out why a guy who spends millions on drugs and hookers is garnering so much attention. Is it because he is viewed as a hero for his success as an actor, for earning millions of dollars and then for throwing it all away? Or is it because people want to see a train wreck and can’t wait for him to crash? I admit that some of his Charlie-isms are funny, but seriously?

I don’t know if he is on drugs. Supposedly he passed a drug test. But the stuff he was saying during one interview was just freaky. Tiger blood, winning and goddesses aside, he seems like he is ready to fall into a deep hole—if he isn’t there already.

But why are people so fascinated by him? I couldn’t believe that people were paying money for tickets to hear him blabber on about his life and views at his Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat Is Not An Option tour. Yes, that is the actual title.

Heroes used to be people that gave their life for a good cause or to save another life. Heroes used to be people that gave millions to help the less fortunate or to help rebuild a ravaged country.

Heroes used to be people that saved lives and didn’t want anything in return.

Now people are idolizing Charlie Sheen, Snooki and the Kardashians. None of these people have done anything that is worthy of a hero, unless you count narcissism as a heroic quality.

I guess since I am not a Charlie Sheen fan that makes me a troll. Fine with me. I would rather be a troll than a self-loathing wacko.
