Ancient Calendar: May 23, 2010

Rome would have kicked things off with a Festival called Rosalia, (also a Greek festival, originating there) which was all for the roses, hoping to honor their Goddess of Flowers, youth, pleasures and fruits, named Flora. While that was going on, Rome was also offering up Sacrifices to their god of blacksmith and volcanoes– Vulcan. What a mix, hu?

Today would have been the fifth day of Callynteria in Classical Greece. See Ancient Calendar: May 19th.

A little announcement. Yes, Ancient Calendar is the same as Pagan Holidays. I just thought this title might be a bit more accurate. We also have our own page, located Ancient Calendar.
