Pagan Holidays for December 5, 2010

Kelly Heckart is our January Pagan Artist of the Month

Today is an interesting day for Pagans in Italy. It’s called the Night of Befana and its all about a Witch named Befana who brings sweets to children that have been good and coal to children that have been bad.

Can you say Christmas? Well this beautiful culture might have had more to do with our Christmas traditions than most realize. In fact, in Italy, children will hide little notes inside their chimney telling Befana what they want.

Children would also make dolls that looked like Befana and they would place these dolls in the window seals for her. At the end of the night, these dolls would be burned and all the evils that affected the family during the past year would be banished.

Today in Egyptian history, Nut & Raet will go southward. Nut is the mistress of all stars and planets.

Tuesday belongs to Mars, Ares, Tiwaz, Tiw (named after), Tuisco & Tyr

As Tuesday belongs not only to the God Mars, but also to the Planet of Mars, we can toss the Element of Fire into the mix ,and have the makings of a very heated and passionate day!

So if you don’t have anyone to vent those wild emotions out on, don’t fret because you can point them into the direction of matters or magical rituals and spells concerning:

anything having to do with marriage, money or wealth, loyalty, enemies, protection, confidence for yourself or another, and of course, courage!
