Pagan Holiday for November 16th, 2009

Pagan Days for Monday, November 16th, 2009

Monday (moon day) is the day of the Moon Goddess, Selene, Luna, & Mani.

Mondays are an awesome day to take care of matters or magical rituals and spells concerning:

Traveling, memory, one’s instinct, sharpening or increasing Psychic abilities, dreams, healing, home, ancestors and of course, family.

Monday belongs to the Moon and the Element of Water

The moon phase for the 16th is:

A Full Moon

On this Pagan Day our Ancestors would…

The Greeks would honor Hecate, Hekate

The Egyptians would have a Festival for Bastet

~

How lucky is it that on a night dedicated to Hekate (eh-ka-tay) there would be a full moon? I hope Witches and other types of Pagans in our time take full advantage of that.

Hekate, happens to be the Goddess of Night. So Greeks won’t truly honor her until the sun sets and the moon rises.

Now remember, Hekate is a three fold Goddess. It is on this night that we respect and honor the ‘Crone’ of Hekate.

It is said that the Crone is the power behind the ‘Queen Mother’ aspect of Hekate. The Queen Mother—interpreted by some Witches to mean ‘their Queen’.

Queen of the Witches – Goddess of Crossroads

I am Hecate, Queen of The Witches–Sorceress, Psychic, Crone, Hag.
I ride through the night sky, bathing the landscape in supernatural light.
Guardian of the Unconscious; Mistress of the Night; Holder of the Key.
I am Hecate; I command Earth, Sea and Sky;
I control the lunar cycles; I control your menstrual cycles; Goddess of Life and Birth
I am Hecate the ultimate Feminine.

The Egyptian Goddess Bastet

Today is the Festival of Bastet. She is a very interesting Goddess as she is considered to be the untamed and untamable daughter of Ra. Now don’t let that steer you away…Bastet is known to be very generous to those who are deserving, but yes, she can be absolutely wicked and vindictive to those who are cruel. What could really tick Bastet off? Harming a cat was one thing. If you harm a cat in ancient Egypt, well look out. Bastet’s wrath was nothing to purr at.
